FABRICS

Our Christmas fabric offerings this year are elegant and subtle.  From Moda we have a large selection from the Roman Holiday line as well as jelly rolls. South Seas’ Gentle Grace in red and whites is a lovely line that comes with 3 choices of 110” backings. Two styles of advent calendar projects are going fast so pick up yours soon.  Northcott has provided us with a country look in it’s Ternderberry’s flannel line with project book full of ideas we plan to make – pillows, embroidery, mantle scarves and quilts – the panel project is made up so come and have a look..
Also from Northcott, we have  Floragraphics 1 nd books with great designs to complement.  On order is Floragraphics II also from designer Jason Yenter  (www.northcott.net).
Free Spirit (www.freespiritfabric.com) continues to bring young and fun designs.  Amy Butler started designing for Free Spirit  and moved to Westminster. Westminster now owns Free Spirit which continues to bring us innovative and trend-setting desigers.  We have brought in Heather Bailey’s  Freshcut  and our two-sided queen quilt  in the ‘Between Friends’ pattern from Happy Hour is fabulous as a quilt or would make a great duvet cover with it’s big blocks. Barefoot Roses from Free Spirit in its complete collection is a retro floral that will sooth and charm you. Chocolate Lollipop is bold in its pinks, browns and blues – looks great in Wendy’s messenger bag!
A new designer from Japan – Echino – has wonderful screen prints in a heavier cotton, great for bags. Check out her website www.f-echino.com/tex/fab.htm
For the kids, we have a large selection of Beatrix Potter fabrics and two quilt design kits.  Beatrix Potter book panel has also been released and is in stock.  Also, now available, in book and panel is Dick and Jane with great bold companion fabrics. Paddington Bear is in stock and coming soon is Alien Invasion by Amy Bradley and SSSilly Safari by Cheri Strole.  To The Rescue prints for boys in an allover print of rescue vehicles is arriving soon.
Also coming this fall from Moda, is April Cornell’s Decadent Victorian – we couldn’t resist the gorgeous deep aubergines in this line. Loft by Erin Michael of Moda is a modern urban print that we will see in October.
We have more batiks than ever and still can’t keep the shelves full – Tonga batiks from Timeless Treasures are gloriously colourful, Bali Batiks continue to be sophisticated and new from Kaufman are Asian Legacy batiks.
We are working on the new ‘Hunter’s Star’ pattern in batiks and have ‘Happy Hour’ and ‘Stepping Stones’ in batik samples.

New patterns we’d like to try are Contra Dance, Bolero, Power of Three, Strip O’Hay, Strip Down,  Strip Poker and East Meets West – have a look at these designs when you stop by!

KNITTING

We now have Koigu (www.koigu.ca) premium merino yarns in stock and  signed copies of Maie Landra’s beautiful book - ‘A Painter’s Palette’.  We are totally enchanted with this yarn. The colours are so artistically created they evoke a very strong emotional response.
Mission Falls continues to be a staple with two new books out this year – “Wee Knits Three” and “For Him and Her” which includes sweaters using their new ‘tricolours’ yarn (www.missionfalls.com). Blue Sky Alpaca (www. blueskyalpacas.com) sport weight and alpaca/silk are available in their full palette. The ‘Composed Mitts’  from Interweave Knits (www.interweave.com) fall 2007 issue combine 6 colours brilliantly. Also from Interweave are three new books, ‘Knit Kimono’, ‘Favorite Socks’ and ‘Lace Style’. Koigu yarn is knitting up beautifully in patterns from ‘Favorite Socks’.  Brown Sheep wool yarns are bought again and again by those who have tried them.  In knitted or felted projects these understated yarns continue to provide the highest quality wool in a huge variety of colours at an unbeatable price – what more could one ask?

We have new  Fleece Artist and Handmaiden yarns.  Their ‘Bordello Socks’ in seawool are so comfortable to wear as are the soft mitts in mohair and wool – both projects in demand and on order – buy them when you see them because they don’t last. ‘Mini Maiden’ wool/silk for lace, lace silk and kid silk in amazing hand dyed colours are lace-inspiring for those who can’t resist the thrills of knitting lace.  Do you have a favourite yarn that we aren’t carrying?  Let us know.
